About St.Petersburg branch of Russian Book Union
Nonprofit partnership "Russian Book Union" (RBU) was established in April 2001 by the biggest Russian publishers and booksellers. Nowadays RBU unites about 1000 publishers, booksellers, printing and paper-making companies, also politicians and cultural workers from Russia.
RBU President - Mr. Sergey V. Stepashin, Chairman of the Accounts Chamber of the Russian Federation.
St.Petersburg branch of Russian Book Union was established in July 2005. The head of the branch is Ms. Alla Manilova, Chairman of the St.Petersburg Government Committee on the Press and Mass Media Communication, Media Cooperation.
St.Petersburg branch of RBU works in close cooperation with the Government of St.Petersburg to protect the interests of all subjects on book market.
The branch takes part in developing of Conception of National Programme on reading development in Russian Federation.
The branch organizes collective stands on different international Book fairs (like Leipziger Buchmesse, Moscow International Book Fair etc.) for participants from St.Petersburg.
The branch organizes marketing researches on different topics, conducts conferences, seminars and panel discussions.
St.Petersburg branch of RBU organizes St.Petersburg International Book Salon in cooperation with the Government of St.Petersburg.
The first Book Salon was organized in 2006 and was dedicated to 100-year anniversary of famous Russian Academician Dmitry Sergeevich Lihachev.
